Thought I'd share a 1 round mock of the NFL Draft coming up. I avoided trades, but there will be some for sure. Gives me an excuse for when I'm wrong, lol. Feel free to share your own thoughts!
- Carolina Panthers - QB Will Levis - I don't think he's the top QB or player but I heard rumors the player is saying the Panthers intend to pick him, so I'm going with it here.
- Houston Texans - QB Bryce Young - I suspect he's been the target with CJ Stroud long expected to be gone, and I bet they stick with their guy. Feels like a fit for the team.
- Arizona Cardinals - CB Devon Witherspoon - They aren't ready to give up on Murray even with Stroud falling here, and Carter is damaged goods so they go with the draft's premier CB.
- Indianapolis Colts - QB CJ Stroud - They sprint to the podium after what many considered the top QB falls to them.
- Seattle Seahawks - DT Jalen Carter - There's risk with this pick, but they may be open to the risk with 2 picks in the round. IF he straightens out and gets back in shape he could be a great pick, or he could be a bust. I personally think the latter, but someone will take a chance and I think it's Seattle.
- Detroit Lions - CB Christian Gonzalez - This pick doesn't line up with the value for offensive skill positions or DL prospects on the board, and they could use help at defensive back.
- Las Vegas Raiders - QB Anthony Richardson - After running Carr out of town I can't see them passing up a guy who made a lot of noise at the combine. Has a lot of tools and will get plenty of help in Vegas. Hopefully they give him a chance to develop.
- Atlanta Falcons - EDGE Will Anderson, Jr. - Falcons fly up to pick the top edge rusher on the board with the top QB prospects all off the board.
- Chicago Bears - T Peter Skoronski - A great fit and local player to give Fields a chance to actually find a receiver. A great fit here.
- Philadelphia Eagles - RB Bijan Robinson - The Eagles have the luxury of taking the best player available and at this point it would be Robinson. Some noise about him pushing an ability to play slot also helps here.
- Tennessee Titans - OT Paris Johnson, Jr - The team may be resetting, may not be, either way a strong line will help them out and Johnson is the top choice on the board.
- Houston Texans - WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba - The Texans got Young, now they get him a WR to grow with.
- Green Bay Packers - DT Calijah Kancey - This guy gives me some Aaron Donald vibes, and the Packers DL need is underrated. A bit undersized for their typical profile, but too explosive to pass up for a team needing pass rush help from its line. Kancey, Clark and Wyatt could be a strong group.
- New England Patriots - EDGE Nolan Smith - One of the top Edge players becomes available, could very much help the Patriots out.
- New York Jets - OT Broderick Jones - They bet the farm on Rodgers, but as good as he can still be he needs to be protected. Jones goes a long way to help that out.
- Washington Commanders - TE Dalton Kincaid - The pick doesn't really fit their needs so go for overall value here, and Kincaid is the top guy left on the PFF board I'm using. Whoever is the QB, they get a good weapon here.
- Pittsburgh Steelers - S Brian Branch - Can be a strong, versatile player in the Steelers defensive backfield.
- Detroit Lions - WR Quentin Johnston - Needs to play to his size, but a prototypical #1 in theory and a great compliment to Amon-Ra St Brown.
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers - TE Michael Mayer - Gives their new QB a safety blanket as they settle into the starting role while replacing Gronk.
- Seattle Seahawks - OG O'Cyrus Torrence - Their biggest need is interior OL, so this may be a slight reach but it's a great fit
- Los Angeles Chargers - WR Jordan Addison - Addison stays in LA, and the Chargers get Herbert a new weapon to tear it up with and hopefully make some noise in the LA sports scene.
- Baltimore Ravens - EDGE Myles Murphy - Has all the tools, just needs to work on technique. Could be a steal here at #22.
- Minnesota Vikings - CB Deonte Banks - Banks can help secure a leaky defensive backfield in Minnesota.
- Jacksonville Jaguars - CB Joey Porter, Jr. - The Jags are not far off, so improving on the back end of their defense could give them the push up a tier.
- New York Giants - WR Zay Flowers - I'm not a huge fan of Flowers (just too small for my liking) but he's got talent and New York could make use of it.
- Dallas Cowboys - RB Jahmyr Gibbs - The Cowboys need a RB and he's the top on the board.
- Buffalo Bills - EDGE Tyree Wilson - A versatile player who can play from a 2 or 3 point stance. Will help the Bills keep up with a strong division.
- Cincinnati Bengals - CB Emmanuel Forbes - Securing their defense could help them get past the KC hurdle.
- New Orleans Saints - OT Darnell Wright - Help build a wall to protect Derek Carr. Their need is mostly inside the line, but Wright could slide down and do well so that's my thought here.
- Philadelphia Eagles - OC John Michael Schmitz - Can play Center or Guard, and it can never hurt to add more top talent to your offensive line.
- Kansas City Chiefs - EDGE Lukas Van Ness - Fell on my board more than I would actually expect (someone would trade up for him if nothing else), but here the Chiefs simply can't pass him up at the end of the round.
