Earlier this morning the Texas Terrors have relieved Head Coach Colin Stotts, Offensive Coordinator Warren Kenneth, Defensive Coordinator Drew Eldridge, and Special Teams Coach Fritz Jotsen of their duties. Owner and General Manager Buster Ratliff said I like all four men, but after the last two years and especially after this season this was the only decision that could be made. Ratliff believes the team under performed all year. He went on to say this team just never clicked this year and we lost three times at home including a home playoff game. Home losses are not something we are used to anymore. That is not the sole reason for the change, in fact it was just one of many. I truly appreciate all Colin did for this team including bringing us our first OIFL Championship. It is simply time for a change. Ratliff also stated that coaching may not be the only changes made. We like the players we have but I would not be surprised if we make a few significant moves this offseason either via free agency or trade or in the draft. We are working under the mindset that we are back to square one and anything and everything is on the table. To help oversee the transition, Texas is bringing in a familiar face as former Texas Terrors and New York Mean Machine Head Coach Don Carthel will be working in an advisory role. Carthel said I’m happy to be back working with this organization and helping wherever I can. That will not be as head coach, I want that to be clear. Neither Ratliff nor Carthel said they have a short list for who the new head coach will be but both have a few names they’ll float in discussions. Ratliff did add that hopefully after this year’s OIFL Cup, we will have a new head coach and that he, Don, and I will have our trade block finalized and outline the offseason. Player meetings are scheduled for this week. As more information is available you will see it here.
